I had on new clothes,
New sneakers on my feet.
I was there for class on time,
Went to the back and took my seat.
Yeah, I'm moving up,
I'm already grown.
Soon I'll be graduating,
And out on my own.
I talked to some of my friends,
We were all having fun.
Said some things I shouldn't have said.
Did stuff I shouldn't have done.
I knew I was different.
I felt God touch my heart,
I knew I should set a standard,
But then I'd be set apart.
Walking to the bus,
I was not looking for strength.
I heard the car tires screeching,
But now it's too late.
I'm standing in this room,
And I can see the heavenly gate.
Oh no! I never prayed.
I thought I had time to get it straight!
An angel walked to me,
He had a book in his hand.
I knew it was the Book of Life,
When would this dream end?
I told him my name,
And he began to look.
Then he looked at me sadly and said,
Your name is not in this book.
Angel, this is a dream,
No, I can't be dead!
He closed the book and turned away,
He whispered - You cannot proceed ahead.
No...no this can't be real,
Angel, you can't turn me away.
Let me talk to God,
Maybe he'll let me stay.
He led me to the gate,
Jesus came to me.
He did not let me in but said,
Beloved what is your need?
Jesus, I cried, please,
Don't cast me away from you.
Tears ran down his face as he said,
You knew what you needed to do.
Lord, please I'm young,
I never thought I would die.
I thought I'd have plenty of time,
Death caught me by surprise.
Lord, I went to church,
Please Jesus, I believe.
He said you would not accept me,
My love you would not receive.
Lord, there were too many
hypocrites. They weren't being true.
He took a step back and asked,
What does that have to do with you?
Lord, my family claimed to be
saved, They weren't real. You know.
He said, I died for you,
Now I have to go.
I fell to my knees crying to Him,
Lord, I planned to be real tomorrow.
I couldn't make Him understand,
I had never felt such sorrow.
Then it hit me hard, I said,
Lord, where will I go?
He looked into my eyes
and said, dear child you already know.
Please Jesus, I begged,
The place is so hot.
It seemed to trouble and grieve him,
He whispered, DEPART FROM ME, I KNOW YOU NOT.
Lord, you're supposed to be love,
How can you send me to damnation?
He replied, With your mouth you said you loved me,
But each day you rejected my salvation.
With that in an instant,
Day turned into night.
I never knew such torture could be,
Now too late, I know the Bible is right.
If I can tell you anything,
Hell has no age.
It is a place of torture,
Separated from God and full of rage.
You know, I thought it was funny, a joke,
But this one thing is true.
If you never accept Jesus Christ,
HELL IS WAITING FOR YOU!
So please, ask Him into your heart.
Our time on earth is short
And when our life reaches its end
We must be prepared to meet our heavenly judge

Have you ever wondered about time? In the business world especially, time is essential. Business men hang on to it with all they have. they rush through each day like their isn't enough of it. Each morning they eat as they drive and are still making calls on their way home. Why are they so worried about wasting time? Of course we know why, time is short. There is so much to do and only a day to do it. But then why do others, such as students, who have an assignment due, procrastinate until the last night before they start? Isn't time important for them too?
ReplyDeleteThe same applies to people in the church. Some use the time God gives wisely. They serve and honour him with the time they have. While others wait until it is too late before they make reconciliation with God.
Time is a gift from God. Time started in creation. In the beginning when Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, God did not end time. God created day and night and that was the 1st measurement of time. When man sinned God could have gotten rid of all that He had made; and there would be no more day or night. But in His great mercy He allowed men to live on. He sent His son to die so that we could be forgiven and live through eternity, where time has no limit.
What is time? A dictionary said that time is the past, the present, and the future. It can be a particular moment, an hour of the day, an opportunity, the right moment, duration (an event that continues, an occasion or a musical beat. What is that opportunity, right moment or occasion to you?
The Bible mentions time in Ecclesiastes 3, “to everything there is a season and a time to ever purpose under heaven.” It goes on to say, “a time to be born, a time to die, a time to laugh, and a time to mourn a time to give and a time to receive ...” This is to say that everything that happens in life is controlled by God. God has placed every even specifically unto His good pleasure. I do not believe in fate but in something called Providence.
Here is a question for you to think about. What would this world be like if there was no time? Would everything be the same? I wouldn’t think so because if so what is causing everything around us to change? Or would life be still; like as if we all froze and stayed in that position until ... who knows. See time isn’t as simple as we think. How do we measure time? You would probably say, “in seconds which then turns to minutes and then into hours and so on.” But does one sec really measure time for would something even smaller be more accurate.
The analogue in the beginning isn’t a factual dialogue but a warning. The poem isn’t telling us what is going to happen after we die, but is reminding us how short and important time really is. Time is important, we are given a certain measure of grace and opportunities to make things right with out Lord, it doesn’t go on forever. In eternity it will but then how do you want to spend that time?
Thank you so much, Alisha. It helped me today, to focus again on the one thing needful.
ReplyDeleteVery true. Thanks again, and keep the light shining!
